Welcome to Good Shepherd School!
If you’ve spent time with our students, families, and faculty, you know Good Shepherd School is an exceptional place, defined by joy, friendship, learning, and faith.
All aspects of our school—including our strong partnerships with families and rigorous academic program exposing children to the good, the true, and the beautiful—is shaped by the Catholic understanding of human flourishing.
We believe that:
The goal of childhood education is to help children grow in knowledge, wisdom, and virtue, understanding that all children are made in the image of God, for the purpose of knowing and loving Him.
Classical programs provide a philosophy and toolbox of time-tested methods to help educators. Creating a prepared environment for children, immersing them in the great ideas and works of Western Civilization, and encouraging the joy of discovery and creativity are among best practices educators can utilize to set children on a path of learning throughout their lives.
Parents are the primary educators of their children. They are responsible for teaching their children at home, selecting supportive mentors and co-educators outside the home, and excluding harmful influences from their children’s lives.
A Christ-centered school is a wonderful blessing to families. A strong partnership between families and teachers is essential to help children reach their full potential as intelligent, virtuous children of God.
Modern society greatly underestimates children’s potential for sophisticated intellectual pursuits, heroic virtue, and the development of the will to pursue both. Children have a natural love of learning. It is the responsibility of educators—at home and school—to tap into this natural impulse and inspire enthusiasm, independence, and deep learning.
Saint Pope John Paul II spoke of the importance of building a strong community:
“We are all one family in the world. Building a community that empowers everyone to attain their full potential through each of us respecting each other’s dignity, rights, and responsibilities, makes the world a better place to live.”
