About Ms. Rowland

Ms. Rowland teaches Math, Science, Logic, Latin, and Gym for the Middle School at GSS. She also teaches Gym for Classical Kindergarten through 6th grades, and is the Nature Study assistant for 4th and 5th grades.

She grew up in Dayton, OH, where she learned to appreciate the finer things in life like cornfields, Carhartt overalls, and flannels. She moved to Virginia in 2017 to pursue her studies, and recently graduated from Patrick Henry College in Purcellville with her BA in Classical Liberal Arts. In school, Ms. Rowland enjoyed the classics, American and Postmodern literature, and chemistry, while also singing in chorale and house managing for the college’s theatre troupe. In her free time, Ms. Rowland enjoys equestrian sports, reading, video games, hot chocolate, working at her church, and day-dreaming about buying a dog. Some of her favorite books include Perelandra by C.S. Lewis, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, and A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller, Jr. She lives in Leesburg with a platoon of her fellow alumni.
