About Mrs. Struder

For over thirty-five years, Mrs. Struder has enjoyed a career in education in a variety of ways.

She graduated from Ladycliff College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Business Management and Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education.  Soon after graduation, she married her husband, and began her life as the wife of an Army officer.  For more than twenty years they traveled from post to post with their four daughters.  During this time, she had the opportunity to teach children in a variety of grade levels to include pre-K, kindergarten, third grade, and sixth grade.  While stationed in Kentucky and Hawaii, Mrs. Struder switched gears from children to soldiers and taught Effective Writing and Personal Finance for Austin Peay University and the University of Hawaii.  During her husband Kurt’s assignment to the Pentagon and after his retirement from the military, she taught theology to freshmen and seniors, ethics to juniors, and a senior writing course at Notre Dame Academy/Middleburg Academy.  She became their Director of Admission for many years to then become their Dean of Students.  Upon leaving NDA/MA she went back to teaching pre-K at Saint James’ Preschool in Leesburg.

It was last year when her oldest granddaughter entered first grade at Good Shepherd School that she fell in love with our school.  A very wise nun many years ago told her that along her education career, if she entered a school and immediately felt a sense of warmth and love, to consider it a gift from God.  When Mrs. Struder entered Notre Dame Academy, she received the gift, and she is doubly blessed because God gave her that same gift one more time when she entered Good Shepherd School.

In addition to her role as Director of Admissions, Mrs. Struder also serves as Faculty and Curriculum Coordinator for Preschool. She also co-serves as special event coordinator.
