About Mr. La Pre

 

Dan was born and raised in the small, rural town of Killingly, Connecticut (CT) located about an hour from Boston, Massachusetts. Although baptized in the Roman Catholic Church, he was raised, had his First Communion, Confirmed, and Married to his wonderful wife Una in the Episcopal Church.


Dan graduated from Elim Bible Institute, Roberts Wesleyan College (B.A. in History), and Regent University (M.A. in Public Policy/Government & J.D. in Law). He was a Legislative Aide for US Senator Dan Coats of Indiana for three years. After a brief time as an aide for Representative David Dreier of California, Dan worked as Deputy Chief of Staff for Representative Charlie Norwood of Georgia for 8 years. He then was hired as Director of Congressional Relations for the American Manufacturing Trade Action Coalition. He retired from political work in 2011.

Upon retirement, Dan began a new career of producing and selling maple syrup, as well as teaching part time. He currently teaches AP Government, Current Events, and Western Civilization at the Winchester Classical Cottage School in Winchester, Virginia. 

Dan and his wife Una were in married in 1984 and have one beloved son, Jonathan. They are members of St Peter’s Episcopal Church where Dan also works part-time.

This is Dan’s third year of teaching the Middle School students.
