Alden Duquette

Alden received his BS from the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia. He has been tutoring professionally in mathematics for five years, working with struggling and gifted students alike in levels 2nd grade through collegiate calculus. Alden has been praised by students and parents alike for his ability to make mathematics simple, relevant, and fun, which he firmly believes the subject can be to anyone with the help of proper instruction. Beyond just mathematical concepts, his teaching connects material to the larger world of its applications, showcasing to students the fascinating ways the methods they learn are directly used in real-world astronomy, chemistry, physics, engineering, and computer science. Alden loves to teach topics neglected in curricula but essential for later development, including matrices, statistical fallacies, set theory, and logic, and he relishes in making every aspect of the work meaningful to students in their everyday lives.
