Letter from New Head of School
Dear Parents of Good Shepherd School,
I am thrilled to be joining your community as your new head of school!
It’s exciting to share this news after nearly two months of thoughtful discussions with your board of directors. I’ve been impressed with Good Shepherd School since the very beginning of this process, when I first stumbled onto your website. With great interest, I read your school’s guiding principles and watched the beautiful video of students joyfully singing, painting, and learning.
When I saw the announcement of your head of school search, it almost took my breath away. I immediately recognized that this could be where the Holy Spirit was leading me. I prayed for discernment and sent my application one week later.
Since then, I have spent a considerable amount of time getting to know your school’s leadership. Chris McKenna, Mattias Caro, and Theresa Schlenz guided me through a thorough, four-part interview process that concluded with a meeting with the full board of directors. I visited the school and observed the Primary classroom (I was impressed!). The most memorable moment came when two of my daughters shadowed in the lower elementary and first grade classrooms. Both girls gave me a big hug at the end of the day and asked if they could please come back!
I am excited to announce that, beginning in the fall, all three of my daughters will attend Good Shepherd School. Adelyn (age 9) will be in Theresa Bruton’s Upper Elementary classroom, Marielle (age 7) will be in Joanna Willard’s Lower Elementary classroom, and Lucia (age 4, turning 5 in August) will be in Karen Clineff and Antonia Babicova’s Primary classroom.
I am grateful to the board of directors for entrusting me with this important responsibility.
I am especially grateful to my family—my husband, Ian, and our children, Charlie, Bryson, Adelyn, Marielle, and Lucia—for their support and enthusiasm.
I hope to meet as many families as possible over the summer. Please consider attending one of two events designed to give us the opportunity to get to know each other before the beginning of the school year:
Tuesday, July 9
6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Corcoran Vineyards in Waterford
Sunday, July 20
7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Lovettsville Community Center (pool party)
Families should RSVP to Chris McKenna at email@example.com or me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you cannot attend one of these events, please feel free to contact me to schedule another time to get together. I very much look forward to meeting you and learning how I can best serve your family.
God Bless You,
Kimberly Martin Begg, Esq.
